Bestia - many thanks! It's come out as 65, so I'll give that a try.

Xpander - what's with the right hand view? Is it Windows? The left hand view looks like mine. Apologies for my confusion but what's what here? Thanks.

p.s. very professional vids, nice.

Edit: while I'm at it, where did you get your figure of 59 for "r_base_fov"? My monitor's 16:10, so how would I work out the value necessary? Or is it just trial and error? 59 certainly looks better than the original 50.625 however.

ID Software Moving Further Away From Linux, QuakeLive Going Native
8 November 2013 at 4:15 pm UTC

I concur with a lot of the sentiment already expressed, so I won't repeat it.

Quake blew me away at the time and is still one of my all time favourite games. Admittedly I've not played that many FPS as I've only been a sporadic Windows user but it was about the only one I can remember where I thought the music added to the experience, superbly atmospheric. Without wanting to sound patronising, unless you lived through these changes in computing it might be hard to imagine how exciting something like Quake was! Super graphical games are the norm, run-of-the-mill now. That's for another thread though!

ID innovated at that time but since have stagnated somewhat. I really enjoyed Doom and Quake 4 also. Thanks for the memories ID.

Metro: Last Light Released for Linux on Steam

Quoting: Quote from STiATPlayed it a few hours. It's a great game with good story telling (even if it's a linear story). Sadly, at one certain point it keeps crashing on me. Hopefully this will be fixed in the next updates.

At which point is it crashing? I haven't had a crash yet so a heads up would be useful :)

Quoting: Quote from XodetaetlBecause Liam asked :
Quoting: QuoteWhat are you most looking forward to in future from Steam on Linux? Or if you shy away from it, why?

It might also just be the will to speak about a recurrent topic that one's strongly opiniated about. ;)

Whoops... looks like I just stood on a rake!

Scratch that, this one can immediately bypass the wishlist and go straight to the library!

This is not aimed at anyone specifically... I still don't understand why anyone who not only doesn't use Steam but detests what it stands for, would want to post in a thread celebrating it! It doesn't add anything :P

I look at my extensive and expanding list of games and still can't quite believe it! It seemed such a long time coming, with all the rumours and now we're on the verge, with the SteamOS announcement, of an avalanche of (even more) great games :D

Cheers Samsai, you're a star. And Xpander, many thanks.
