Linux Kernel patch being discussed to help Windows games run in Wine
1 June 2020 at 7:15 am UTC Likes: 3

Quoting: PatolaDoes anyone know of any current use cases for this patch? Which Windows applications/games skip WinAPI calls to do syscalls directly?
i think its more to do with all those anticheat and drm protection systems, rather than games itself

Quoting: Liam DaweTo get something is to receive something, seems perfectly appropriate. It mentions clearly it's a patch (doesn't say merged or anything) and notes its 'RFC' directly in the title. A title is just a title, the key is as always the text that accompanies it.

I'm not native english speaker, true. but wouldnt it be better to use "might get" ? :)

i know its request for comments but its not inside the kernel yet lol...

The title is a bit weird. like "gets". Nothing is there yet, its just a patch that isn't accepted yet. Interesting stuff though.

Valve continues to improve Linux Vulkan Shader Pre-Caching

Quake Champions runs super smooth™ now. Compared to stuttery mess it used to be on every new map.
Not liking the game itself much though. The class ability thing is a bit weird for game like this imo and the game is quite slow paced compared to say Xonotic.

DXVK(D9VK) is enabled by default anyway and if you run it with Vulkan rendering directly why do you need that?

NVIDIA released a new 440.66.15 Vulkan Beta Driver

Nice. Nvidia seems to be on fire with the vulkan beta drivers lately. Installed, but haven't tested much yet. Seems to work fine but no idea if i got some more perf somewhere. probably not a big thing anyway.

Steampunk base-builder Volcanoids adds online co-op

from my testing, it runs much much smoother with vulkan, but the only problem with vulkan rendering is that the water will glitch out when looking at some angles. Haven't tried the coop yet though.

Still Warhammer Online: Return of Reckoning. Runs amazingly with wine+DXVK. Using vkbasalt with sharpness, smaa and fakehdr to make it look better in 2020. Lots of great PvP action.

is warhammer still going thought they killed the game off

Its a Private Server that has been running since 2014. Official game was shut down at the end of 2013, yes. Honestly in this private server the game is even better than it was during the live. Class balance is much better, Lots of server optimizations also that let you actually have 500+ people on the screen fighting with decent framerate etc. Also its free with no cashshop or anything :) Lots of people playing also.. prime times there are 3000+ people on the server fighting
