Fahrenheit: Indigo Prophecy Remastered pops up on Amazon, has a Tux on the cover
24 January 2015 at 6:36 pm UTC

For those interested, there's a thread on Neogaf about this release: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=978668

No specific information though (and I don't think lots of people there are playing on Linux) but there are some comparison screenshots between the old version and that new one on pages 2 & 3.

Quoting: BeamboomJust some additional info that's worth noting: The game was first released in 2005 and fetched a metascore of ~85. If the "remaster" is extensive enough it might be worth it!
The description on Amazon states that textures have been remade in HD so it's probably simply a graphic overhaul for a game that's not easily available (except on GOG). And for American players, this is the uncut version that was released in Europe.

When has Amazon "lied" in the past exactly? From what I remember, they listed Linux versions for XCOM & Civilization V way before they were released on Linux but they eventually came out.

Aspyr Media Have A New Port Due Soon & Might Bring Their Games To GOG

The next Aspyr port seems to be Fahrenheit / Indigo Prophecy remastered. It just got announced, is done by Aspyr and though the Amazon page puts it in the Windows category, there are MacOS + Linux logos on the cover.

CaesarIA Now On Steam, A Re-make Of Caesar III, But It Might Not Be Legal
22 January 2015 at 8:51 am UTC

QuoteDo you think thats enough? Also, they aren't charging for it; and I have purchased Caeser 3 on GoG and have played it in Wine; so I should be in the clear legality-wise if thier disclaimer is all that is necessary.
Nope, that's not. In fact, it doesn't matter, the situation would be the same without the disclaimer: even if you own Caesar 3, their distribution of the data files (graphics, music, maps...) by the developers is illegal unless they have a licence for it, which they clearly don't.

The only way to make this legal would be to distribute the engine and the player would have to extract the files from the original Caeasr 3 (CD, GOG version...) to put them in the right place. I don't think Valve would accept engines only that need files to be installed manually on Steam, that may be why the devs decided to release it that way and put the disclaimer.

This kind of mess already happened with a game (don't remember its name) which used content from other games during the developement as temporary stuff. The devs pretended it was a mistake that they forgot to fix for release but the game had to be removed from sale until this was cleared.

In the cas of CaesarIA, it's not a big deal as the game is free to play but expect it to disappear from Steam when this disclaimer will be seen by the rightholders of the original game (if they still exist and care).

The Spectre Of Grim Fandango Looms! GF Remastered Now Available For Pre-Order On GOG (Updated!)

I don't really understand the point in the preorder exclusivity. From what I've read, the game will be available everywhere (GOG, Steam, Humble...) when it's released on the 27, right? I can understand people peordering games when they come with some specific extras unavailable to those that didn't, I can understand people buying in some store rather than another because of bonus content (the wallpaper on GOG is not what I'd call a great bonus but why not), I can understand (not agree, though) with exclusivities when people can actually play a game before others but I really don't see the point in that exclusivity on preorders.

Shadowrun: Hong Kong, A New Game & Kickstarter From Harebrained Schemes

Haven't played Dragonfall yet but the base SR game was really good. Looking forward to this one.

That's a bit of a shame that there will be no tablet version as though I play on PC (Linux, of course), it was nice for tablet players to have this kind of game. And the devs already have the base engine, I don't think there would be so much work to port that new extension (or maybe the tablet version of the base game sucked and they don't think it's worth doing more work on it?).

Torchlight II Has Even More Positive Signs For Linux
13 January 2015 at 11:18 am UTC Likes: 1

Oh, it might be better, or not, that's pretty much a matter of personal taste (besides, I think I've only played it during the beta before it came out, so not much), I was mainly talking about the similarity of the gameplay mechanics in both cases. In other words: if you liked Diablo, you'll like Torchlight and if you liked Diablo 2, you'll like Torchlight 2. Unless you really dislike the cartoonish graphics.

Guess The Next Linux Port From Feral Interactive, And Win A Copy

There's been a game called Scorched Earth 20 years ago. I doubt they'll port it from DOS to MacOS and Linux, though.
