Torchlight II Has Even More Positive Signs For Linux
13 January 2015 at 10:46 am UTC

Quoting: KeizgonNever touched the Torchlight series, but I hear good things and looks visually appealing. Would definitely buy Torchlight 2 even just to check it out (after official Linux release).
They're pretty good if you like hack'n slash games. Torchlight is a good Diablo clone while Torchlight 2 is a good Diablo 2 clone.

Quoting: KeizgonOne thing I do not understand though, is why Torchlight 1 not on Steam for Linux? I thought about buying that just to check out the series, but I was misled to believe it wasn't available for my OS?
Torchlight 1 has been ported to Linux (for a Humble Indie Bundle). It had a few annoying bugs. I think they've been fixed, though I'm not sure. It's probably still planned to be released on Steam for Linux but there has been no news about it for some time (the last time there has been stuff happening in the depots is 6 monthes ago according to steamdb.info).

Oh, I saw the announcement from Wadjet earlier today but there were no mention of a Linux version. That's cool it's planned.

The Incredible Adventures Of Van Helsing 1 Linux Port Is On Hold

I was selected in the closed beta and I was indeed wondering why there hadn't been any new updates for a long time. Unfortunately, the last time I tried the game, there were a lot of nasty bugs that were quite problematic. I wouldn't really call it a version that works as it has game-breaking bugs (scripts not triggering and such), though it indeed runs and is in a playable state.

From what I had understood, the developer was on vacation at some point, which explained the lack of progress, but it rather looks like it's more a decision of the studio to hold the developement.

Natural Selection 2 FPS Has A Major Update, Fixes Major Linux Crash Bug

Quoting: abelthorneThat's cool they fixed the crash. Now they just need to fix the locale issues and make perfs bearable and I can finally play it on Linux. Don't think it will be anytime soon, though.

The local issue with some games can be worked around by setting a starting option atleast :)
In NS2's case it's more of a pretty specific keyboard issue than locale settings, in fact. On non QWERTY keyboards, you can't input numbers, which make some classes unplayable (like the Gorge, who can't build stuff IIRC). It's rather annoying.

Civilization: Beyond Earth Released For Linux, On Sale & You Can Win Some Keys

Well, as the game uses an updated version of the Civilization V engine, I'd say that it uses the same OpenGL version 3.3. That's just a supposition but definitely not older and I doubt it uses OpenGL 4.0 (AFAIK, Metro Redux is the first and only game to use OpenGL 4).

Civilization: Beyond Earth Released For Linux, On Sale & You Can Win Some Keys

Quoting: MagevaniaAm I the only one around here who is not satisfied with this Xmas sale event?
Last year at Christmas time the discounts were higher there were both choices of the community and discounts daily. This year there are 160 games discounted at 10-50%, it's bad.
Well, that's mainly because there are more recent games on promo that the same bunch of oldies that came back at each sale during the last three or four years...

Whatever, don't forget that the higher discount will come when the games are put on daily deal / community choice / flash sale. If you spot a game that's not in these, there's a chance that it'll get a better discount (if not, it will be at the current one until the end of the sale anyway).

And there are still community votes along the daily deals. The main change is that there is now one vote per day instead of three, so the list of games that scroll through the three options will be a bit less showcased, but all games should be on a special sale at least twice.

I love GamingOnLinux and Aspyr so much (but ESPECIALLY GamingOnLinux) because they're going to give me a Civilization Beyond Earth key. That's so cool, you guys rock. ❤❤❤

(It's implied that if I don't get a key I will love you so, so much less. It would be a shame.)

They usually relase their games on Windows and MacOS. I guess that's what they mean by "computers".
