This past week I played a small game by an interesting character who goes by Kitty Horrorshow. To call her games horror in a conventional video game sense would be misleading. They're abstract, graphically primitive, albeit striking, and tend to leave me with a lingering sense of dread and loneliness, as well as a sense of otherworldly wonder.

Do you fancy things like revenge fantasies and silly physics games? If so, then Kill The Bad Guy might do for you. The game has you playing as the invisible hand of an organization trying to murderize people they find unsavory in various ways.

Today should be a good day for you nostalgia lovers, because Shovel Knight has been released for Linux! Shovel Knight is a charming NES-Inspired platformer that was funded on Kickstarter and release for Windows back in June. The game has received a lot of critical praise; being described as a love letter to old school platformers.

It looks like Sparpweed is bringing us a shamelessly cute title, ibb & obb, a challenging cooperative platformer. However, before the penguin masses can get there hands on it the developer is looking for testers. Those interested can fill out this form. Please only apply if you actually intend on helping Sparpweed find bugs before release!

Those of you who passed on The Binding of Isaac due to it being a flash game are in luck! The popular rogue-lite title is being remade from the ground up, with plenty of new content for new and old players alike this November. The most significant change from a gameplay standpoint will probably be the addition of an interesting local co-op mechanic.

This week I took a look at Michael Todd's Electronic Super Joy: a fast-paced unforgiving platformer. I missed the initial release last year, and it must be said I was missing out. It's certainly not perfect, but the soundtrack alone may be enough for many of you.

Back yonder in the days of yore, I poured hour after hour into my Tony Hawk games on the PS2. It was a catharsis long forgotten until now. Roll7 brings me back a bit with their title OlliOlli: a 2d retro skate-em-up. Unlike the skating games I used to play, OlliOlli drops world exploration for a more arcade-like experience focusing on keeping your combos up and your speed high.

Monochroma, a grim indie platformer (where have we heard that before?), has been released on Steam. The developer, Nowhere Studios, managed to fund the game last year on Kickstarter and Greenlit on Steam. It appears to be set in a dark industrial world with an orwellian vibe. Carried by plot sans dialogue and some great 2.5D visuals, this game definitely looks to have potential.

Get ready for some crazy action platforming, because it looks like No Time To Explain will be coming to Linux. I've contacted the developer, Tiny Build Games, who have confirmed that we should expect to see it by the end of this year.

Get ready to be competitive, it looks like the multiplayer platformer, SpeedRunners, is going to be on Linux! A developer from Double Dutch Games has confirmed via email that there are plans for a Linux port.

Influent, a new vocabulary building language game has been released. I decided to purchase it myself to improve my Spanish vocabulary and so far I'd say mission accomplished!
