Played a lot of hours today and the game never crashed, so here's hoping it wasn't just an outlier (compared to previous) and that downgrading to 4.18 kernel actually helped. Couldn't find any suitable bugs in the DXVK bugtracker.

If you think it's dxvk related, you can mention it here: https://github.com/doitsujin/dxvk/issues/138

Novigrad harbor at night:

The city is really massive, amazing job they did there! A pity though you can enter only a few building, and can't get to any high towers (or at least I didn't find a way yet).

Found one way! Novigrad rooftops:

I managed to get on top of one of the smaller towers:

Some roof hopping from there works, but you can't really get far.

Impressive work, especially in light of how easily Geralt dies to falls :P

CDPR did great work with the city, and also the whole area around it. Would be cool to be able to enter more buildings, or every one of them, but the amount of work that would entail... :shudders: One can still enter a decent chunk, and there is a lot to do in the city.

In some locations in the countryside I wanted to have a loooong dive into the ocean, but typically it's not that easy to find safe areas to dive from. Cliffs aren't steep enough so you can't jump far enough out. Glad there isn't a death counter in the game :D

Wouldn't mind a view like this where I live.

Funny dialog between two Dwarves in Farconers (Novigrad):

— Know what irks me most about Novigrad? The fuckin' proportions. Stairs too high, chairs too narrow, tankards too small. And the wenches're too bleedin' large. And when I walk down the street, I'm ever only starin' at someone's arse!
— That part's not all bad...

Spoiler, click me

For what it's worth, I made a post about my crashing issues over on https://github.com/doitsujin/dxvk/issues/138. I don't know if they were truly DXVK-related, but Philip Rebohle is in a much better to judge that than I am. And if they are, maybe he can put in a fix for whatever is wrong.

Funny comments you posted above btw. Not seen that myself. Have seen another one that isn't quite as humorous, about a woman and a child, where the mother is happy about the child lying straight to her face, just like his dad does (or did when alive). This was in the poorer section of Novigrad.

NG+ feels a bit unbalanced btw. Despite having a Witcher gear sword, it takes enormous amounts of hits to take down some enemies, even drowners on my own level (or below) takes something like 8-10 hits to kill.

While exploring I came across a "bird". Either the damage numbers hovering are wildly incorrect (not taking into account armour reduction?), or the beast had something like 150,000 hitpoints. Each hit for 1200-ish damage (as listed at least) barely visibly moved the life bar. I'm sure I hit the thing at least a 100 times.

Think I was level 45 at the time, and the "bird" is 52. Came across a lvl 54 leshen too, which was tough as all hell. Especially when a bunch of wolves spawned. Took a while.....

Sorry about the UI being present here, but I quite liked the sight :)

Yeah, from what I've heard, NG+ is basically supposed to be super hard mode. But I wish they provided more granular difficulty settings in general, like Pillars of Eternity for example.

I wonder if NG+ is ever good for anything other than goofing around in the first levels of a game. Though I've _heard_ that 'Nier: Automata' expands on the idea very creatively (which isn't something that could work for every type of story, of course).
Shmerl 28 May 2019
Essentially, TW3 developers wanted to provide higher level of difficulty, and they intended it for experienced players, so that's NG+ since that assumes finishing the game once. Other games just give all those difficulty knobs from the start, like Pillars of Eternity I mentioned above. That's a better method.

NG+ is probably harder than the first playthrough, but I shouldn't overstate it either. Pretty sure enemies are harder to take down than as a level 10 or whatever in a fresh game, but we also have decked out skill points and more health. Enemies hit harder too ofc, but overall I probably survive better -- at least as long as I spam the Quen button :D

Packs of enemies is by far the worst, but apart from that it's kinda nice to have longer battles actually. No longer a swipe or two to kill mobs, but a more prolonged attrition with loads of dodging this and that way.

It's utterly silly for "red skull" mobs, however. That wyvern talked about earlier was almost unkillable. Don't really get why they made higher-level enemies so artificially difficult to kill. Because of city guards? No idea, but it feels pretty stupid, and kinda limiting as well. Came across some high-level foglets while exploring yesterday. Managed to kill one of them after 15-20 minutes, but ran away from the other guy. Had I been 5 levels higher both would have probably gone down after 5-10 hits instead of 100-150.

Will keep going though, and see how it pans out in the mid to late game. Hopefully new witcher gear can sort-of keep up with damage output and mitigation from enemies. I read somewhere that the game was reasonably balanced up to about level 60, but after that it could be sketchy, and certainly was a bit nuts at level 100. Hopefully the main story will prove okay for me, although moving into the expansions (which I haven't touched yet) might be a bit futile. We'll see...

This guy has a serious case of overgrown nose-hairs :S:

NG+ has mostly been fine, but I just came to a certain spot in the story where it was essentially impossible to get through it alive. Surrounded by heaps of mobs, and every single one of them would basically one-shot me (90-95% of health gone). After ~10 failed attempts, and not really being close in any of them, I switched difficulty down to easy and got through it.

Did a quick search and apparently it's a known "issue" with NG+ in that part of that mission.

I hope there won't be many cases like this moving forward, but there is a risk I suppose.

I encounter one bug in TW3, probably related to Wine or may be dxvk or esync? Not sure. If I let the game run and leave computer idle, KDE timeout kicks in and it locks the desktop and later puts the monitor into sleep mode. After waking it up and unlocking, the game is still running, but the window is empty and you can't do anything with it. I need to kill the process and restart the game, which is somewhat annoying. Did anyone encounter such problem?

To work around it, I created a KDE activity, that never shuts down the screen, and switch to it when playing.

Never found the way to the blasted Temple Isle stuff, though, so maybe I'll always lack something, haha.

There is a cave system under the Temple Isle. The way to get there starts on the western edge of the isle, where you need to get down the cliffs:

You can get a hint on the location from Julia, the cat lady from Farcorners, who is also apparently a secret D&D player.

I actually finally found that cave some days ago. Went around quite a bit, and then jumped down the correct ledge and suddenly saw it. Definitely not a place you just stumble upon, like many of the other caves in the game.

Ended up leaving pre-maturely because there was a lot of gadgets and whatnot and I figured it was probably tied to a quest I hadn't found yet. Need to head back, though. It was a really cool place.

Went into the Cave of Dreams this playthrough too. Missed it the first time.

Don't think I've talked to Julia, so thanks for that. Will see if I can locate her and hear what she says.

Geralt has been working on his swimming skills. And found this fine spot :)

(Sadly the other guy wasn't very talkative)

Think this was on a different island. See the odd square? It looked like ocean as there is water. Hard to see in the screenshot, but pretty sure it was water, as I was moving the camera this and that way. Presumably some mistake with the game itself.

Not sure what's up with this guy.

Interesting. After all these years it looks like I came across an item that wasn't documented in the Witcher wiki: https://witcher.gamepedia.com/Poem

Could you help me about the location of Julia btw? I've spent probably an hour looking through Farcorners trying to find her, to no avail. I've gone back to the caves and completed them, but would still be nice to see Julia. Especially after the brief exchange on the official forum with a developer and what I assume is you.

Thought this was a nice view of Kaer Morhen -- although Geralt is kinda close to falling to his death there :D One of the frustrations with this game is how damn hard it is to make small movements. Sometimes it feels like doors and trees are Geralt's arch enemy.

Again Roach is having a serious seizure :D

![](https://i.imgur.com/I5BnaTG.jpg)

Unfortunately it doesn't show very well in the image I took, but Roach is galloping on two legs, pretty much straight upwards. Maybe he wants to be human? I also quite like the tiny gadget, and I will of course prefer to take the right line in races :D
