Red Dead Redemption 2 seems to expose Vulkan renderer

To not much surprise Rockstar has a Vulkan render for the highly
acclaimed Red Dead Redemption 2 as it will come to Stadia.

This German games magazin says the pre-release version they have,
exposes a Direct3d 12 AND the Vulkan renderer.

https://www.gamestar.de/artikel/red-dead-redemption-2-pc-vorabversion-mit-limit-bei-120-fps-directx-12-und-vulkan,3350718.html

There is hope the final version released on Nov. 5 will also expose it.

With Wine supporting Vulkan pass through, there is a good chance it will work well (at least with AMDVLK).
Unless copy protection will be a problem. :/

Edit: They also said there is no support of renderers prior to D3D 12.

Interesting. I have to admit that even though I own the game for console already I'm quite inquisitive about it for PC and I do hope that it will be possible to play Red Dead Redemption 2 through Wine.

Thanks for the info @sub. This is going to be interesting, especially since CW/Valve are also working to get the Rockstar Launcher back in business on Proton/Steam Play/Wine.

Looking forward to the first compatibility reports. :)

Wine AppDB has no entry so far.

Looking forward that too. Vulkan renderer seems promising for linux gaming

Maybe one should make it so people can send bug-reports. Thou prob more important after they release it on Steam

Btw, a user confirmed that the release version also exposes the Vulkan renderer! :)

Apparently there are lots of issues at release and that news magazine
advises people to change the renderer to Vulkan.

LOL

From what I see on twitter there's a lot of windoze users struggling to get it to run at all!

Read Dead Redemption 2 runs via Proton if you bypass the Rockstar Launcher by renaming a file

This screenshot has been pasted all over the net recently, and yet not a single screenshot or video of the game actually running on Linux. Doesn't say much unfortunately

I've been stalking reddit, Lutris and other Linux related sites regarding this game, seems the issue is the drm and the launcher.
