Dick Trickle comes off a commanding win last round at Dundas County Fairgrounds…… He will be looking to back that up with another win here…… Matthew Kato finished second last week and he will be looking for another strong performance to keep the pressure on Dick….. And the defending champion Josh Ginter will be looking to bounce back from a terrible race last round…….
Dont touch the sets...... Dont touch the dials...... You wont want to miss a single moment of the 2003 Weekly Dirt Racing Series action....… Practice and qualifying are coming up right now…...

Dick Trickle at the track ready to race.…
Dick Trickle spent the entire qualifying time dialling in the gearing for the engine…… Making sure the kept in a safe rev range to keep the engine from overheating while giving him maximum performance on this track……
Qualifying started and Dick Trickle proved he is no dumb Dick……. As his hard work and patience paid off….. He set a great time of 18.796…… That sees Dick in second place…...
Joe Fazioli was only .2 of a second quicker that Dick……. Matthew Kato sits in fourth……. And Josh Ginter continue his poor qualifying form….. Dragging the car home in twelfth….
Dick Trickle be in Heat 2….. Starting in first place…...

Qualifying Results........
Dick Trickle lead the field to the green flag for the 5 lap Heat 2 race……. Dick limped off the line…… While Matthew Kato got a great start to lead into the first turn…… But his lead didnt last long as Kato ran wide entering turn 3 leaving a Dick sized hole in the process…… Dick didnt need a second invitation and slide his way up into the hole….. And took the lead in the process……
Kato was not able to recover……. Dick Trickle squirted away to take the Heat 2 win by 2.3 seconds over Jeff Fulton who climbed his way to second after starting fifth…..
Josh Ginter had another great recovery drive….. Starting sixth and finishing in third place……. If only he could qualify better he would be real hard to stop…….

Dick Trickle lined up ready to start the A Main......
Dick would be starting on the front row for the 50 lap A Main Final…… With Joe Fazioli starting on the inside…… As the green flag dropped Joe Fazioli got a great start and was brining Erik Truet with him for the ride……. Dick Trickle had to hang lose on the outside of turns 1 and 2…… And was able to use the high line momentum to not only clear Truet but almost clear Fazioli as well….. Dick pinched Joe on the inside and used the high line momentum again to clear him…. Truet wanted in on the action and followed Dick on the high line to pass Fazioli as well……
Dick had the lead by the time they got the line to end the first lap and that was it….. No one was able to match Dick…… He was off into the distance and led all 50 laps to take a very easy win…..
Ted Finger claimed second in what was a sensational drive…… After started eleventh….. Ted Fingered his way through the field and was able to finish behind Dick…… Trailing by 17.060 seconds…….
I third place was Josh Ginter who was 1 lap behind Dick…… And was never in contention for the win…..
After starting on pole…… Joe Fazioli faded back to ninth…. He has good one lap pace but on the longer runs he cant keep up with the other cars……
After the race Dick said “That was much easier than I thought it would be….. I knew I had a car that could compete this week…… Thankfully that slow start didnt hurt my race to badly and I was back in the lead before the end of the first lap…… The car was just so good this week…… Once I dialled in the gear ratios it was smooth sailing……. Bring on Kingsfield……. I always do well at that track……. The domination hasnt ended…… Far from it……”
“I would also like to thank Steves Quick Mart for sponsoring for the rear quarter panels of the car…… Its good to have you aboard Steve…..”
After the absolute spanking he gave the field in that win….. Dick Trickle took his winnings and was seen talking to parts dealer in the pit lane….. More improvement to the Infogrames Flaming Dick Machine???
Next week the 2003 Weekly Dirt Racing Series heads to Kingsfield Raceway…… The place where Dick Trickle got his first ever win last season……
So far Dick has been true to his word and has dominated both races so far…… Can that continue????….. Or can Josh Ginter finally sort out his qualifying woes???……. Can Matthew Kato get back into the championship hunt???….. Or will Ted Finger emerge as the main treat to dethrone Dick???…..
Tune in next week for the answers to all these questions and more….. Exclusively here on Left Turn Heaven……..
This is Murray Eastlake reporting for Left Turn Heaven..... And until next time its goodbye from me....

Final Fight goes chibi is this cutesy styled beat ‘em up…… This is much better than the original game…...
Gameplay is your bog standard beat ‘em up….. Nothing much to say here….. Its a Final Fight game….. But this time on the NES…… There is only 1 weapon and not many health pickups…… But the gameplay is fine for what it is……. The biggest thing for me in terms of gameplay is just how much faster the game is…… From the movement to the fighting….. Its so much faster and snappier than the Arcade game or SNES games…….
The graphics are where this game shines…… It goes for a cute chibi art style…… Similar to River City Ransom….. The game is very bright and colourful…… With excellent sprites that really do look the part…… All of this combined just works so well on the NES…..
Controls are rather good….. 1 button attacks and 1 button jumps….. Just like all the other Final Fight games…… Most of moves from the Arcade game and the SNES game are in this game too…….
The plot is simple enough……. April O’Neil has been kidnapped and its up to the Ninja Tur…… Dammit wrong game….. Tonight on Unsolved Mysteries…… Mayor Haggars daughter Jessica has been kidnapped by the Mad Gear Gang….. And its up Haggar, Cody and Guy to save her…… And perhaps you can solve the mystery of where Jessica is and why doesnt Haggar assign more protection for his beautiful daughter…….
Sounds are excellent….. With really well done chip tunes for the music….. The sounds effects are also good….. On par with the Double Dragon NES games…….
Overall this is a really good game and my favourite way to play Final Fight so far…… The gameplay is so much faster and snappier…… And that makes so much difference when it comes to shallow Beat ‘em up games like Final Fight…….. I highly recommend this one…...

The War On Drugs rages on……. NARC is a run and gun game where the players take control of Porsche 911 Turbo driving Narcotic Officers…... Max Force and Hit Man…… As they deliver hard justice to the drug dealers of the city……. You could say…….. The War On Drugs……. Has never been cooler
The gameplay is….. Well…… Its a run and gun……. Move to the right and shoot anything that movies…… This game doesnt try to reinvent the wheel…… There are a few car sections to break up the action….. With the Police Department giving Max Force and Hit Man a Porsche 911 Turbo with front mounted machine guns…… Your tax dollarydoos at work folks…… There is really only 1 boss fight in the entire game and its a sight to behold….. Who ever came up with the boss fight was on a lot of the same drugs Max Force and Hit Man were trying to stop……..
The graphics are nice for the time…… Almost look like digitised sprites….. Like from Mortal Kombat….. Its an extremely colourful game with lots of bright colours and explosions…… The animations are ok….. They do the job but could have been better….. The levels are well….. There…… They are nothing special are just flat floors with different backgrounds……. There is a nice colourful drug lab to destroy…… But most levels are set in the seedy back alleys with strip clubs and porno stores all over the place…...
Controls are your typical arcade run and gun affair…… 1 button shoots the machine gun…….. 1 button shoots the rocket launcher…… 1 button jumps and 1 button crouches…….. They work well and are nice and responsive……
The plot is simple…… Mr Big has kidnapped April O’Neil and its up to the Ninja Tur…….. Dammit…… Why do I keep doing that???……. Tonight on Unsolved Mysteries…… Mr Big has been pushing his drugs onto the public…… And its up to Max Force and Hit Man to bring him down…… By any means necessary……. And perhaps you can solve the mystery and Who is Mr Big and is he related to the Mr Big who was dating the horse in Sex In The City…….
The sound is well interesting…… The music is harsh and overloads your seances…… The voices are nice…… Nothing beats hearing a drug dealer yell “I GIVE UP UP” moments before taking a rocket to the face…. The guns and rockets and explosions sound good….. The dog barks are good as well…..
NARC is a game Ronald Reagan would have had wet dreams over…… It is so over the top in each and every aspect that it stands out from the crowed…. And also covers its flaws very well…… Below the surface there is no much there….. But it does a damn good job of hiding it…...
If you want a quick 30 minute arcade game that is totally over the top and just great dumb fun……. NARC is a game you need to check out…… And remember kids…… Winners Dont Use Drugs…...

NARC
Next week is meant to be raining most of the week so I dont think much will be going on……. Should be a nice quiet week at home doing nothing…….
As for gaming there will be more hardcore Dick Trickle racing action in NASCAR: Dirt to Daytona……. I will play another Final Fight game this week……. Along with going deep undercover taking out drug peddlers in NARC for the PlayStation 2 (Yes NARC was rebooted in 2005 for the PS2 and OG Xbox)……. I will also be a drug peddler in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City……. And I will continue my stupid quest of making a setup for every car at every track in NASCAR Heat 5……
Current setup checklist…...
Cup: 24 of 30
Xfinity: 24 of 30
Truck: 25 of 31
Dirt: 9 of 9
Well thats it from me…… Have a good week everyone……
Now for my bad joke of the week……
When old people say..... "enjoy them while they are young"....... They are talking about your knees and hips........ Not your kids.......
*ba dum.... tssssh…...*

Unfortunately, I have none of the (very little) merchandise of the British Metal Bomber character, or else I'd've put him with this lot, too.

My first game for this weekend is Taito's Jungle King (Arcade), the short-lived original version of Jungle Hunt (and later still, Pirate Pete, which was withdrawn from sale due to the use of the iconic Tarzan call infringing on the copyrights of the estate of Edgar Rice Burroughs - an event which more-or-less marked the end of bigger companies turning a blind eye to video game developers pinching content from established properties.
It's a mostly-auto-scrolling sort-of-a-platformer (which, oddly, goes from right to left, rather than the now-conventional left to right), where you must guide the heroic king of the jungle who is not Tarzan honest through all manner of traps and trials in order to rescue his girlfriend from a group of cannibals.
When reskinned to Jungle Hunt, I Can't Believe It's Not Tarzan was changed to an explorer in a pith-helmet instead (with the digitised Tarzan-yell removed in the process) but little else was altered, and when it was changed into Pirate Pete both the visuals and the audio were overhauled completely, but whichever version you play it's still the same game underneath, and it's a lot of fun!

My second pick for this week is Kirby's Dream Land (Game Boy), since its antagonist is the mischievous penguin king, King Dedede.
This one's a short-but-sweet platformer from relatively early in the life of the venerable Nintendo Game Boy, and it's one of my all-time favourite games not only on that system, but on any, so I couldn't resist including it here.

My third pick is The Lion King ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Lion_King_(video_game) ) (SNES), based on the movie of the same name.
Of course, the protagonist in this one, Simba, just can't wait to be king, and he eventually reclaims his rightful place as heir after the fallout of his evil uncle's murderous scheme to take the throne instead.
Interestingly, the game includes some characters who were scrapped from the film, and in the end their appearance as enemies here was the only way that the public got to see them!

My fourth pick this weekend is Worms (Game Boy).
I sunk a lot of hours into this specific version of the ever-popular artillery game when I was a kid, and I've chosen it this weekend because one of the built-in teams, "HRH", is made up entirely of British royals.

And, last but not least, my fifth pick is Donkey Kong Country: Boss Blitz (SNES), a ROM-hack that converts Donkey Kong Country into a small boss-rush game, complete with various bits of record-keeping.
Being a boss-rush, this one naturally features the game's final boss, the villainous crocodilian monarch King K. Rool, at the end, so of course I had to put a bit of time into this one this weekend.

... I'll be teaching some younger relatives how to play milkcaps (Pogs) this weekend, which ought to be fun! Some only know this as a 1990s fad, but the Hawaiian game is actually steeped in history dating all the way back to 17th century Japan, and even encompassing the origins of trading-cards along the way!

It's well worth a look, but for the sake of your ears play Jungle Hunt and not Jungle King - that digitised Tarzan-yell was impressive for the time, but it's quite shrill!
Hahahaha!
