Been a rather quiet week….. Had quite a bit of rain this week……… Besides work being a pain in the arse and walking the dog……. I trimmed up some trees and did some yard work……. Including mowing the lawns…….

I did dodge the rain to get out and do early voting for the referendum here in Australia…… So I now dont need to line up on October 14th……. Thanks to early voting it was a quick in an out…….. Thats what she said……..

Intro music…... Hello and welcome to Left Turn Heaven….. Im Murray Eastlake and today im going to be bringing you all the action from the 2005 Featherlite Modified Series: Round 1 of 11 here at Dennison Speedrome……..



Dennison Speedrome…….

Dennison Speedrome is 0.375 miles long and has 24 degrees of baking…… You need a good handling here here to deal with the high banking……. This high banked narrow track will test the patience of the drivers…. With 20 Featherlite Modified cars on the track for the race…… The chrome horn will be used a lot…... As this short track brings out even shorter tempers……

Its the first race of the season….. Jason Sulivan comes in as the defending champion……. He will be looking for a strong start to his title defence…..

His main rival will be Dick Trickle who finished the year hard and strong……. Winning the last five races of the season…….. He will also be looking for a good start to the season here…….

Francis Lee, Joel York and the 2003 champion William Anderson are also strong contenders for the title……. As all three had very good 2004 seasons to build upon for this year………

Who will get the dream start for the season they desire???……. Will be last season champion Jason Sulivan……. Or will Dick Trickle continue his hard driving from from late last year and get the start he needs to be in the championship hunt???……

Or can another hungry driver get the jump on both of them and get the dream start they desire???…...

Dont touch the sets...... Dont touch the dials...... You wont want to miss a single moment of the 2004 Featherlite Modified Series....… Practice and qualifying are coming up right now…...


Dick Trickle at the track ready to race.…


Dick Trickle spent a lot of time in practise working on the car……. He was very meticulous about how the car had to be setup…… And was using every second of the practise session to get it just so…….. He was focused hard on he job at hand……

Qualifying was up next……. And Dicks hard work really paid off…… As he set a sensational lap time of 12.509 around this tiny circuit…….. Last years champion Jason Sulivan just couldnt match Dicks raw pace……… He ended up 0.5 seconds behind Dick with a 13.004 to be in second place……

Third was Francis Lee who was VERY close to Jason Sulivans time…… Falling just 0.1 seconds short setting a time of 13.173……….. Fourth was Joel York with a very respectable 13.275

And rounding out the top five was William Anderson with a 13.451……. Its another year but the qualifying order is the same as last year……. I needed to check the calendar to make sure I was not still in 2004……..



Qualifying Results....…..



Dick Trickle lined up ready to start the race......


Dick led the field to the green flag for the 88 lap race…….. Dick and Jason Sulivan had a great start and drag raced down to the first turn……… With Dick taking the lead as they entered turn one…….. Sulivan was in a close second……..

Francis Lee was sticking with the leading pair down the back straight as William Anderson had found a way past Joel York as they continued from their year long battle from last season……..

Dick started to stretch out his lead over Jason Sulivan who now had to think more about defending as Francis Lee was right up his rear and was looking for a way past…….

Joel York and William Anderson were swapping position almost every other lap as they kept fighting hard for fourth spot……..

Dick had well and truly hit lapped traffic and it was a slow way through the pack as this tiny narrow track does not offer a easy way around any of the cars……… The gap to Jason Sulivan was a solid 3.5 seconds and Sulivan had not got to the lapped cars yet………

As Sulivan got to the lapped cars he lost a lot of time trying to get through them and had to be extra careful as Francis Lee was still right behind him and was ready to pounce if Sulivan made any mistakes……..

And that is exactly what happened as Jason Sulivan got himself trapped on the outside while Francis Lee was able to sneak up the inside and claim second place…….

Out in front and Dick was having a trouble free race as he was penetrating his way through the field much better than the guys behind him and he was able to increase his lead to over 1 lap as he lapped the entire field……. At the half way mark Dick was in prime spot the take the win……. It was his race to lose as the Grinch Performance Modified Flaming Dick Machine was running like a dream…..

Further back and William Anderson and Joel York continued their ding dong battle…… Not letting each other out their sights as they battled very hard for fourth……. York was having to work hard to keep Anderson behind him for the time being……..

The battle for second was back on again as Jason Sulivan had caught back up to Francis Lee was all over his rear……. The lapped traffic was having a major impact on the leading battles……. Finally the pressure got the Lee and Sulivan was able to get past to reclaim second place……..

Francis Lee was not giving up without a fight and was back on the tail of Jason Sulivan and the fight for second place was back on…….. Francis Lee make one last ditched effort to claim second place through the traffic but was not able to do so and got pinned against the wall by a lapped car……. That damaged Francis Lees car just enough to prevent him from challenging for second place again……

William Anderson had found a way around Joel York again with the help of the traffic…… As this time Joel York got trapped on the inside and Anderson snuck through around the outside……

At the front of the field no one was stopping Dick today…….. And he took the chequered flag with ease…… Leading all 88 laps and lapping the entire field three times on his way to the win…… The Grinch Performance Modified Flaming Dick Machine looked unstoppable out their today……. Could this be a sign of things to come????…...

Second was last years champion Jason Sulivan who just couldnt not size up to Dick all weekend……. He will have a lot of work to do during the week to catch Dick……. Sulivan was 3 laps beind the winner……

Third was Francis Lee who had a great race and nearly captured second place……. He kept close to Jason Sulivan all race long and he could be a real threat to Sulivan if he cant find more speed in the car……. Lee was also 3 laps behind the winner……

Fourth was the 2003 champion William Anderson who had another epic race long battle with Joel York…… Anderson was able to come out on top though and have another solid start to the year……. He was 4 laps behind Dick…….

Rounding out the Top five was Joel York was was unlucky not to capture fourth……. This could be another strong year for York as he keeps racking up top five finishes……. He was sadly a long way off Dicks pace and will need to put in the extra hard yards to measure up to Dick…….. York was 4 laps behind the winner…….



Race Results..…


After the race Dick did a monumental burnout around the entire lap of Dennison Speedrome……. The crowd went absolutely nuts and a huge Dick chant broke out in the stadium…..

After the burnout Dick make his way to victory lane to be greeted by his lovely wife Pussy Galore….. I managed to grab a hold of Dick a get a word with him……

“What a way to start the year Murray……. The Grinch Performance Modified Flaming Dick Machine was absolutely perfect today…… I could not fault it one bit…….. I started hard and strong Murray and I finished just as hard……..”

“The traffic was relentless out there Murray…….. I hit it on lap 3 and I dont think I had a clean lap since then……. Its such a small track that you just cant escape it…… Its like a its like a horror movie villain…… No matter where I went…… The traffic was always right there……. Stalking me……”

“I would like to think that this Dick sent a hard message today with that 3 lap win……. Im not here to make up the numbers…… Im not here to be content with second…….. Im here to win and im here to win the championship this season……… And the championship is the only thing that will satisfy me this season……..”

“Well that and Pussy Galore……… And on that note I think its time to get some of that good ol winning Pussy Galore satisfaction……….*

Well there you have it…….. I think Dick is going to be plenty satisfied tonight by the sounds of it……. And im sure glad the cameras wont be there for that……..

Next week the 2005 Featherlite Modified Series heads to Crystal Lake Raceway….. After his totally dominate performance here at Dennison…… Dick will be looking to continue that form next week…… Jason Sulivan will be looking for a bounce back weekend and take his first win of the season……… Francis Lee will be looking to be up there again fighting for second and hopefully even a first…….

And im sure William Anderson and Joel York will continue their blood feud they have had for over a year now…….. Will anyone be able to separate them????……… They may even find themselves battling for a win…….

Can any of them do it????….. Or will another young, hungry, talented driver take the spoils at Crystal Lake Speedway???……

Deja Vu……. the sensation I am playing something I have played before…….

The graphics…… Deja Vu……. I have seen these sprites before……….. Yeah it looks almost the same…….. They are really nice…… The sprites are well done…… The colours work well…… Its very well detailed……. It is a very nice looking game……

The sounds……. Deja Vu……. I have heard these sounds before……… Yeah its almost the same the previous game…….. Very little music……. Slightly dull helicopter sounds…….. Weak sounding weapons……. This is still the weak point of the series…...

The controls……. Deja Vu……. I have used these controls before……… Yeah the same as the previous games……. Its the exact same…….. Nothing has changed about the controls at all…….

The storyline….. Deja Vu……. April has been kidnapped again……. Thats right April O’Neil has been kidnapped and its up to the Ninja Tur…….. Hang on…… This game has a storyline……. Battle for the forces of media mogul H. R. Malone who ran for president of the USA bit failed to win…….. But he still has a lot of support…… He has created a super weapon and plans to use it to destroy the United States……. You are sent in as the lone helicopter to stop H. R. Malone and his evil forces in a series of strikes…….. Urban Strikes……..

The gameplay is pretty simple……. Deja Vu……. I have played this game before……. If you have played Desert Strike or Jungle Strike you have already played Urban Strike…….

Besides the different names and different colour pallets and different box arts these are the same games…….

Long before EA was repackaging the same game for Madden…. They were honing their skills by repackaging Strike games……..

Overall…….. Deja Vu……. ITS THE SAME *BEEP*ING GAME!!!!….. Just the names are changed to protect the innocent…….

And that is why my final score for a Urban Strike is a Madden game out of 10………

The road to unlock the PES Penguin in Pro Evolution Soccer 6 is at 400 PES points out of 5000……….


Rugby 08 World Cup……..


Australia vs Canada

Australian Wallabies come in with no pressure at all…… They are already going through the Quarter Finals and have top spot in Pool B all wrapped up…… They are playing just for pride to go through the pool stage undefeated…….

Canada are out of the competition no matter the outcome of this game and are just playing for pride as well……. Its not looking good for Canada as they are outmatched in every aspect by this very talented Wallabies side……..

Australia have been dominate in this pool stage so far and the Wallabies coach now wants to see them spread the ball through the backline more…… Instead of the slow rumbling with the forwards…… The backs have had very little to do this tournament and the coach wants to see them do more than stand around……..

So as the game got underway that is exactly what happened……. The Wallabies threw the ball wide and found gaps early on……. Then Canada gave away a penalty for a dangerous tackle….. That gave the Wallabies an excellent attacking lineout……..

From the lineout win the Wallabies spread the ball wide to winger Lote Tuqiri who crossed the line for a very easy try…… As Canada was all set for a rolling maul over the line and were caught short out wide…….

From the kick off the Wallabies again used their backs more and scored more easy tries…….. Lote Tuqiri was having a field day and he racked up his tournament try tally and the Wallabies racked up the score board……..

Canada was already on the plane home mentally at half time with the game already out of reach……. If there was a white towel the Canadian coach would have thrown it in…….. As the teams entered the sheds for half time…….. Australia was up 98-0…….

After half time the tries kept flowing as Australia just couldnt stop finding the gaps in the Canadian defence…….. It looks more like Swiss Cheese than a defensive line…….. And the records began to tumble……..

Most points scored by a team in a match ever………. Biggest margin of victory ever…….. Most tries scored in a match as a team……… Lote Tuqiri captured the record for the most tries by a player in a game at 22……. Matt Giteau got the record for the most conversions in a game at 34……. Canada got the records for most points conceded and most missed tackles in a game…….

As the referee blew the final whistle to end the match…….. Canada breathed a sigh of relief as the beating was finally over……. And they will go home after facing a historic humiliation…… As the Wallabies ran away record winners 238-0…… Not letting up for a second and getting the backline to run riot as they scored 33 of the 34 Australian tries…….. and also putting every remaining team in the tournament on notice……

We are now down to the business end of the 2007 Rugby World Cup……

Only 8 teams have a chance of winning the Webb Ellis Cup…….. Australia, England, France, Ireland, New Zealand, Scotland, South Africa and Wales…….

Just like the in the real life 2007 Rugby World Cup…….. The Wallabies will face England in the Quarter Finals……..

England won that match in real life and knocked the Wallabies out of the World Cup……. Can the virtual Wallabies get revenge???…… Or will history repeat itself in digital form???……

Yes thats right….. The segment all Weekend Players’ Club fans have been waiting for…….. Not really…. But its not by choice either…….

The Cricket World Cup has officially started…….. And just like with the Rugby World Cup……. I will be following along by playing games….. This time with Cricket 07 on the PS2…….. Playing my games on the same day Australia plays theirs…….

As you can see from the games list I played both Cricket 07 and Shane Warne Cricket ‘99 on the PS1 to see which one I liked more to use for this play through and Cricket 07 won out….. Just……

Stop looking at me like that……. Its not my fault that the Rugby World Cup and the Cricket World Cup overlap……..

The way the schedule looks it seems like there will be 2….. Sometimes maybe 3 cricket games per week…….. I will try and keep the match reports short and sweet…….. But I like to talk so who knows how well can I keep that promise………

I might even cull the game review segment for a few weeks till these tournaments end…..


Next week…… The weather is meant to fine up and its meant to be really nice….. Should be good walking weather……. I need to do some work on the car……. And I need to get a new watch battery when the shop opens……
