Arcade style flight sim with hardware support?

My toddler has been fascinated with my joystick for a long time, and is super into airplanes. It'd like to let him see how the joystick works. So I want:

* An arcadey style flight sim (start in the air, turn off stalling or other hard-to-grasp concepts, 3rd person view)
* That supports a joystick and throttle
* That isn't a combat sim (too young for that yet)
* That runs well on Linux, either native or Proton

I'm struggling! XPlane is way too much of a sim, Linux Air Combat is focused on combat, and Steam is awash in old games that may or may not work in Proton.

Anyone have a suggestion they know will work for us?

Maybe you could try AeroflyFS (2 or 4).. It's native Linux and supports all kind of hardware.
It's for beginners also. And has only just flying, no war content or something like that. And there's multiple camera perspectives, so you can also use 3rd-persion-like view.

I think Fly Dangerous might be worth looking at.
