Mankato Raceway…….
Mankato Raceway is 0.633 miles long with 14 degrees of banking…….. With long high banked turns And relatively short straights this track demands a good handling car……. Power is not as important here……. As getting through the corners is what really minimises your lap time………..
Dick Trickle is really on a roll with everything lately……. Dick won another Weekly Dirt Series race last night……. Leading every lap and dominating the field is his usual fashion…… Dick has not only won every race but he has led every single lap of every race he has been in this year…… I have never seen domination like this…….. And it does not look to end anytime soon…….

2005 Weekly Dirt Racing Series: Round 4 of 10…...
Dick enters Mankato Raceway with a 100 point lead over the new championship standings second place man Gray Soros who had a fantastic race last week……. The former second place holder was Jason Sulivan who after his engine blowout last week is now sitting down in fifth place…….
The 100 point lead is very important for Dick…… As that means he can now DNF a race and still maintain the championship lead as a 20th place is still worth 103 points…….. 87 points less than winning the race while leading the most laps…….
Now that we are back on the ovals can Jason Sulivan size up to Dick and challenge him for the win???……. Can Gray Soros continue his excellent road course form back on the oval???…… Can Francis Lee or William Anderson cause Dick some problems and take a win as well???…….. We are not even at the half way stage of the season and its already getting close to do or die time for some of the championship challengers…….. That shows you just how dominate Dick has been…...
Dont touch the sets...... Dont touch the dials...... You wont want to miss a single moment of the 2005 Featherlite Modified Series....… Practice and qualifying are coming up right now……

Dick Trickle at the track ready to race.…
Dick spent almost the entire time in practice working on the setup for the car…. The car had changed so much since he last raced here that all his previous data was no good…… After all that time and running a lot of laps he seemed rather happy with the car……. Which is a very bad sign for his competitors……
Qualifying was up next…… And Dick set a fantastic lap time of 19.855 to secure pole position for the race……. He was 1.1 seconds faster that second placed man…… Mike Hemeseth…… Who shocked everyone here at Mankato Raceway…… Setting a very competitive lap time of 20.932…..
Third was Dicks old friend Luis Rivas who only just missed out on second place by 0.006 of a second…… Setting a time of 20.938……. Fourth was Joel York who set a 21.148 to give himself a really good starting position…..
Rounding out the top five was Jeff Ondich…… Another shock qualifying result….. Setting an excellent time of 21.320…….
I needed to pull out the binoculars to see last seasons champions Jason Sulivan who was way down in eleventh place…… He was with good company as Francis Lee was fourteenth and even further down in seventeenth was William Anderson who had a shocker of a qualifying session……..
After qualifying Jason Sulivan was not happy…… As he dragged along a race official to complain about Dicks car…….. Looking at the timing sheet Jason Sulivan needs to be more worried about his own car……. The official looked at Dicks car and gave it the thumbs up…… Leaving Sulivan furious…….. After last weeks DNF Jason Sulivan is getting really desperate to claw back some of that lost ground in the championship race…...

Dick Trickle lined up ready to start the race......
Dick led the field to the green flag as the 63 lap race got underway…… Dick did not get as good of a start as Mike Hemeseth who got a great jump on the outside……
Dick had to use every pony under the bonnet to get the lead going into turn one……. Mike Hemeseth was not giving up and was hanging on around the outside……
Luis Rivas and Joel York were trying to sort themselves out behind with both fighting hard for third place….. Rivas got the best of York hugging to the inside and getting the clear lead down the back straight……..
Gray Soros and Jeff Ondich were also having a good ol battle for fifth place…… While back mid pack Jason Sulivan was not getting anywhere……. And was firmly stuck in eleventh…….
Out front and Dick had managed to put on a decent gap to Mike Hemeseth by the end of the first lap and Luis Rivas was right behind Hemeseth ready to pounce and take second place…….
Meanwhile Joel York had Gray Soros right up his rear followed by John Bundy who was also right there ready to make a move if a gap opened up……. Jeff Ondich had fallen back off the start and was not a factor at all with the top five at this point…….
Dick was in traffic now after only a few laps and was penetrating the holes with ease…… Dick was firmly in control of the race…….. As long as he didnt make a mistake or suffer a mechanical failure it was his race to lose…….
Mike Hemeseth lost out big time in the traffic……. Losing second place to Luis Rivas who was driving really well……. And he even managed to put a bit of a gap on Hemeseth…….
Joel York was also not having good luck with the traffic as he had contact with a lapped car that caused him to spin……. He didnt lose a lot of time but he did lose several places……. He quickly got back facing the right way and was off again to chase down those lose positions……
That moved Gray Soros to fourth and John Bundy to fifth…… They continued to have a great battle on track…… Even the lapped traffic was not able to separate them………
At the half way point Dick was well in charge…… And had the whole field one lap down……. With Luis Rivas in a distant second with Mike Hemeseth all over his rear end……. Gray Soros and John Bundy were still locked in a battle for fourth and fifth place……
Joel York was still working his way back through the field and was catching John Bundy quite comfortably…… While Jason Sulivan had only managed to gain one position was now in tenth…… Still lots of work for him to do……..
Dick was now in cruse mode….. He was still the fastest man on track but his lap time has dropped enough to not stress the car to much……. He wanted to make sure he finished the race……. That was his only job at the moment…..
Joel York had caught and passed John Bundy for fifth…… And was now hunting down Gray Soros for fourth…….. Bundy just did not have the outright pace at this stage of the race to battle Soros who was on a man on a mission…….
Meanwhile after applying a lot of pressure for many laps Mike Hemeseth had finally passed Luis Rivas for second…… Mike needed the help of a lapped car but he was now able to put a comfortable gap over Rivas…….
Jeff Ondich who had qualified in fifth was not having a great race he dropped down to seventh early on and only slid down further to tenth…… Before suffering a mechanical failure and was forced to retire the car…… Heartbreak for Ondich who had hoped for a much better finish after that great qualifying session…...
Joel York was now also applying lots of pressure to Gray Soros…… Who was struggling to keep York behind him……. York had more pace that was very clear……. And was able to make the move around the outside of Soros who just had no answer for Yorks pace……
With only a few laps to go most of the positions were set now……. Dick was putting his friend Jason Sulivan another lap down……. Sulivan left the door open and Dick went for the gap….. Then Sulivan slammed the door shut making contact with Dicks Grinch Performance Modified Flaming Dick Machine…….
While Dick was able to keep control of the car…… The same could not be said about Jason Sulivan who speared up the track and slammed into the outside wall hard……. He them slid down the track and was collected by Greg Brown who had no way of avoiding Sulivans car……….
Both cars suffered terminal damage and were now out of the race……. Jason Sulivan thumped the steering wheel in frustration as the car came to rest against the inside wall…… He has not had a good two weeks now and his championship hopes have taken a massive blow……
Dick suffered no damage after the contact with Jason Sulivan and continued as per normal…… As Dick came around to pass the stricken Sulivan……. Jason Sulivan took off his helmet and threw it at Dicks car while yelling obscenities at Dick……. Race officials quickly go a hold of Sulivan and escorted him to the medical centre…….
The chequered flag waved as Dick crossed the line to take another dominating win in the Featherlite Modified Series……. No one was able to measure up to Dick today……. He was in a class of his own……..
Second was Mike Hemeseth…… A fantastic result for Hemeseth and the team will be delighted with a second place finish…… They worked really hard this weekend……. He was 3 laps behind Dick…….
Third was Luis Rivas……. A great result as well for Rivas…… He has been plugging away all year and to get a third will really boost his confidence……. He was also 3 laps behind the winner……
Fourth was Joel York who had a great fight back after the spin in lapped traffic earlier in the race…… He will be very pleased with that fourth place….. He was 4 laps behind the winner……
Rounding out the top five was Gray Soros…… Who continued his good from from the road course last week….. But was not able to battle the four guys ahead of him…….. He was also 4 laps behind Dick…….
As for the other usual front runners it was another very disappointing weekend for them besides Dick and Joel York……. Who both had great finishes…...
Francis Lee was down in twelfth……. William Anderson was way down in fifteenth……. And Jason Sulivans DNF meant he was all the way down in eighteenth place…….
This will really shake up the championship order……. Jason Sulivans dream of back to back championships is turning into a real nightmare…….. As he is now in ninth place……...

Race Results..…
After the race Dick Trickle did his customary burnout down the main straight……. The tyre smoke filled the air as the crowed went nuts…….. What a show this crowed has witnessed all day long from Dick……
After the burnout Dick drove out of the smoke and finally made his way to victory lane…… Its been another great day for Dick as he has really stiffened his chances of winning the championship……..
As Dick gets out of the Grinch Performance Modified Flaming Dick Machine he was embraced by Pussy Galore…….. I managed to get hold of Dick to get a word with him…….. “Another great race for me Murray…… Not only the win but my closest rivals were also down the order……. I believe Gray Soros was fifth……. That should give us around a 135-ish point lead now……. Its all looking good right now Murray…….”
“The Grinch Performance Modified Flaming Dick Machine was perfect again…… The team has done such a great job preparing the car this season……. It makes my job so much easier Murray…….”
“As for [Jason] Sulivan throwing his helmet at me I have no idea whats going through his tiny brain…… He clearly came down on me thats why we made contact……. He has been a complete moron since winning the championship last year…… Now hes way down in the championship standings and hes now got a few roos lose in the top paddock……..”
Jason Sulivan then came over yelling obscenities at Dick…….. Dick was yelling them back just as well though……. “You Dickhead……. You took me out of the race you dumb dick…..” Yells Jason Sulivan…… Dick fires back….. “Oh dont start that *BEEP* with me……. You came down on me and cause the crash……. It was your own fault you *BEEP* *BEEP* BEEP*ING *BEEP*………” Getting more heated Sulivan bites back….. “THAT WASNT MY FAULT AT ALL!!!!……. YOU JUST DRIVE LIKE A DICK!!!………..” Dick not a man back down continues to taunt Sulivan “IM TAKING YOUR CHAMPIONSHIP AND THERES NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT SULIVAN!!!……..” Look of absolute rage washes over Sulivans face as he hears those words “YEAH WE WILL SEE ABOUT THAT” Sulivan says with pure anger in his voice……..
Sulivan then pushes Dick……. Dick pushes Sulivan back…….. Sulivan then throws a punch but thankfully Duck was able to duck in time…… before Sulivan could throw a second punch both teams crews and race officials came and try to break up the fight…….
Oh boy its all going off here right now…… THE BIFFO IS BACK IN THE MODIFIED SERIES!!!!……. As Pussy Galore gets in a few words a nice lady like her shouldnt know…… the crews and officials are finally able to separate the two and escorts Jason Sulivan out of the winners circle……
Well there you have it folks…….. Tempers are starting to flair here in the Featherlite Modified Series……. We might see more fireworks next week…...
Next week the 2005 Featherlite Modified Series heads to ELK River Raceway….. The one and only time we visit that track this year……..
Will Dick continue his dominating ways….. Or can Jason Sulivan calm down enough to take the win……. Can Mike Hemeseth or Gray Soros continue their great form to next week???…….. As we edge closer to the half way point….. Tempers are going to get more fierce……. Theres a lot on the line in the upcoming weeks….. Who will take the advantage???……..
Tune in next week for the answers to all these questions and more….. Exclusively here on Left Turn Heaven……..
This is Murray Eastlake reporting for Left Turn Heaven..... And until next time its goodbye from me....

Australia vs New Zealand
The two heavyweights of world rugby face off in the semi final…… After the Harka it was time for the Wallabies to kick off to the All Blacks……
New Zealand started very strong controlling the ball early and rumbling forward with their forward pack…… The All Blacks travelled the length of the pitch in just over 6 minutes and used a very slick backline move to score a try out wide to grab the early lead……. With the conversion successful New Zealand had a 7 point lead……
The Wallabies had no answers early on as they played very sloppy rugby…… Lots of handling mistakes and trying to force passes that really wernt on…….. And that gave the All Blacks more excellent field position and another try at the 20 minute mark to take a handy 14 point lead…….
New Zealand could have scored more tries but the Wallabies won two line outs against the throw to prevent the All Blacks from attacking within 5 metres of the try line……… It was the only saving grace for the Wallabies early on……..
Australia finally started to play good rugby and had stemmed the tide……. While they wernt able to score any points before half time they stopped New Zealand scoring any more as well……. As half time came….. New Zealand was leading 14-0……..
After the half time break the Wallabies were playing much better rugby…… The changes made during the break were working wonders and Australia was starting to pile on the pressure……. But were not able to show anything for it as we reached 20 minutes to go in the match……
The Wallabies employed the backline as they spun the wide and finally found the overlap they needed to break down the wing……. After drawing in the fullback Stirling Mortlock passed the ball to the unmarked Lote Tuqiri to score a try untouched to halve the the New Zealand lead as the score was now 14-7…….
Australia kept on the pressure and was controlling the ball very well…… And found themselves deep on attack again……. This time with a nice line out 5 metres from the All Blacks try line……. Australia won the line out bu the rolling maul failed to cross the line…… But in doing so New Zealand had committed to many bodies to stopping the maul that they were short out wide……
Quick skilled passes got the ball out wide to Lote Tuqiri again to dive over for another try untouched and with the conversion the scores where now locked at 14 all with just 10 minutes remaining…….
New Zealand were out on their feet as the Wallabies had controlled so much ball during the second half that the All Blacks fitness was now in question……. And the ball control continued as Australia rumbled the ball forward very slowly through the forward pack……. Taking inches of field position at a time…….
Finally New Zealand made the mistake Australia was looking for…… A dangerous tackle penalty from the tired defence inside the last minute of play and in a very kickable position…… Australia kicked the penalty goal to take a 3 point lead……..
And that was all she wrote……. That kick was the last act of the game……. As time expired New Zealand was out of the World Cup……. And Australia scraped through to the World Cup Final by the skin of their teeth……..
Only 2 teams have a chance of winning the Webb Ellis Cup now…….. Australia and France…….
Next week will be Australia vs France in the World Cup Final…..

Australia vs India……….
The final group match for Australia….. They have been totally dominate in this World Cup…… With no one able to get close to them……..
India won the toss and to much surprise they elected to bowl first on this glorious batting wicket….. Even the commentators were questioning that decision……
Australia smacked India all around Madras from the opening ball…… Michael Di Venuto and Mark Waugh were in superb form smashing 50 over 3 overs before Mark Waugh picked out the fielder in the deep for a simple catch……. He made 24 runs in very short order…….. And set Australia up for a good total……..
His brother Steve Waugh made his way to the crease……. And he started with a huge six straight back over the bowlers head……..
Di Venuto was continuing to smash the Indian bowlers all around the ground as Australia was racking up the runs…… He even managed to get his first 50 of the tournament……. But was out soon after…… Just like Mark Waugh he picked out the fielder in the deep and was caught for 68…….
Greg Blewett made his way to the centre of the oval……. And he played a great supporting role to Steve Waugh who decided today was the day he was going to demolish the Indian bowlers…….
The Indian bowlers were left begging for mercy but both Steve Waugh and Greg Blewett showed none……. As they mercilessly dismantled the bowling attack…… After the 20 overs were up and the Australian innings came to a close….. India was in total shock……. Greg Blewett was 41 not out…… And Steve Waugh was 267 not out… As Australia set a record score of 2/400……..
India were never in the contest…… While the pitch held up well and Australia was very ineffective at taking wickets they did a great job containing the Indian batters and forcing them to realise the game was lost long before the innings came to a close…….
India ended the innings 3/124 with Sachin Tendulkar the top scorer with 61 not out…… While there was not much joy for the Australian bowlers on that flat slow wicket…… Michael Kasprowicz was the pick of the bowlers taking 2 wickets…….
Australia easily won the match by 276 runs and Steve Waugh was again the man of the match…...

I guarantee that none of the Weekend Players' Club regulars saw this one coming: My pick for Halloween is the 2016 version of Layers of Fear (Native Linux). My other half gave me this one, which was super-cool of him. I'm going in almost blind here - I'm aware of the game's positive receiption, but I've only read the official description, and that's it;
There's little else I can say, other than that it's currently marked as Steam Deck Unknown, but from what little I've played so far it seems to work perfectly via Proton, regardless. Apparently it's about three-and-a-half hours long, so I should be able to find the time to finish it by Halloween, without it setting off the motion-sickness that I typically get from first-person games. I've been thoroughly absorbed by what I've played so far.

My other pick for this weekend is Bomberman 64 (Nintendo 64) - a game which I left out of my series-marathon last year due to a general dislike of the design of 3D games from that console-era.
The thing is, I'm still a hungry fan, and we're obviously not going to be seeing another new Bomberman game for several years now, if indeed they intend to continue the series beyond this point. There are trademark-filings that would cover a streaming show, which were filed at roughly the same time as the ones that cover the Castlevania Netflix shows, as well as this info from 2018, where Konami's multimedia arm added the game series to its licensing list alongside some older Japan-only alternate-continuity Bomberman TV-shows and some shows for other properties that ultimately made it to production after this article was written, though nothing suggests that this is actually going to happen, as much as I'm wishing that it will. So, I've set up RetroDECK, and here I am.
The more experimental nature of Super Bomberman R 2 compared to its two immediate predecessors has left my mind more open to giving a chance to the two N64 games and one unusual PlayStation game that I skipped before - hopefully this will work out well for me and won't end up coming to a screeching halt due to my usual frustrations with the design of N64-era content.
It's also the time of the year when I re-watch Disney's Hocus Pocus, which is one of my all-time favourite movies.
The last time that I watched it was during that incident last year when Disney broke Linux support for Disney+, so I had to watch it on my phone, which was incredibly unoptimal. This year's viewing was much better!

This week I also completed collecting this set of Bomberman B-Daman Bakugaiden plushes, after finally getting hold of that continuity's version of White. He was missing the rubber-ball that can be fired from the stomach, and the placeholder that I picked up is a little too small, but it looks about right for now, and I'm super-happy to have the group together at last*! Well, as far as I know, anyway - at the very least, there's no evidence suggesting that this set also had the Bakugaiden version of Black Bomber, who's a slightly less-regular member of the cast in the show.
*Unlike the games, this alternate continuity's main "team" aren't a family of eight siblings, but rather a group of four friends, hence the greater variation in their looks. Bakugaiden has some pretty great character-designs.

*I don't usually write a lot about the games in the weekly other-stuff list, but every time I revisit this one in particular there's something about it that stupidly bugs me, so I'm going to talk about it here. The original Sonic games were all set in and around the Antipodes, and they claim that the character in my screenshot, Knuckles, is an echidna, but he's clearly not one. Echidnas are pretty much like spiny platypi and have beaks, whereas Knuckles plainly has a nose - moreover, some media relating to the character interchangeably refers to him as a porcupine as well as an echidna, even though the two species are unrelated. He's obviously a species-confused porcupine, and the error has irritated me for a lifetime. (Fun fact: Knuckles was initially intended to have a Jamaican accent even though he's an Australian animal and he was also going to be a Nike product-placement - the half-moon marking on his chest was originally meant to be a Nike Swoosh logo.)
Last of all, in the spirit of the spooky-season, I'm going to leave you all with this excellent hour-and-a-quarter long video, all about bad endings in video games and their consequences for the characters and the narrative: Bad Endings in Games, by YouTuber ClementJ64. It's appropriately unsettling, I think, and also insightful and quite good fun.
Temper, temper!
Hahahaha!
Oh gawd.

Despite some busy work (having to collect items in a blizzard all around the map), some frustration and some bugs/glitches that confuse (some of which are fixed already in first update, with a new update coming soon) this was a FANTASTIC game. The exploration, the puzzles, the story (which I already knew some of from the first game)
The second playthrough is more relaxing because I already know the ropes and won't be spending half the time trying to figure out how to traverse and what my quest items even are.
Alright Spider... your jokes are so corny, that you are are outstanding in your field. Like a scarecrow :-)

Might grab the Resident Evil HD Remaster while it's still on sale, before the season's out - don't think I can say no, at £3.99!

Thats some nice GIMP editing there......
Yellow looks he has an alien bursting out of his chest.......
Alucard....... The most beautiful vampire in the cosmos......
Bomberman...... The goofiest robot in the cosmos......
Its good good isnt it......
It was the best line I could come up for her......
You know the joke is great.....
You will have to let us know how it goes......
Still looks like Silent Hill to me......
If I only had a brain......
I hope the voice acting is better than in the original.......

I just finished playing.......
Castlevania: Simon's Destiny (2017 Batandy) - GZDoom - First Person Whipper
Its a Castlevania mod for GZDoom and its really really good...... Its based on the first NES game......
Its a standalone mod..... So it does not require any DOOM WAD files.......
Just download GZDoom and the mod..... And away you go......
Its well worth a play through to play as Simon Belmont and whip it in first person......

Thanks very much! I had a lot of fun with that one.
Hahahahaha! And I know that you don't know that the villains in that show were very Xenomorph-inspired, which only makes that funnier!

I dunno, that dubious title would be a better fit for Yellow Bomberman.

Not only is he rather loony, but he kicked off the most recent game by interrupting White's heroic speech by yelling "I'M GONNA PEE MY PANTS!". Clearly Yellow is the goofiest.
Totally! Was it based on any real events? I know that you've drawn from those for some of the other punch-ups in the series.
Yeah, it is.
It is, though it's also been retranslated, so though it's more natural it's also missing stuff like the the iconic "Master of Unlocking" and "Jill Sandwich" lines. That said, they do still make references to them, which is a nice nod that they didn't have to include - I can appreciate that sort of respect for the original work's endearing flaws.
There's some interesting information and interviews about the original game's voice-acting, here, by the way.
I've yet to ever play any Doom mods at all, so this may very well end up being the first! It looks very authentic!

Looking forward to seeing future ones......
Im guessing Alucard is a fan of Jason Sulivan......... They both know the same sign language........
Why yes....... It was based on this incident over a decade ago.......
I have a very long memory for racing incidents...... Good thing I do too..... Can use a lot of my knowledge in this series......
Oh what???...... That Jill Sandwich line is perfection!!!!.......
You really should play it...... The platforming sections in the clock tower are annoying but its like that in every game.... So yes its real authentic..........
