I might give it a test drive soon, and apparently the Linux compatibility layer has also improved.

I've been wanting to get around to trying some form of BSD for years now, and since my GPD Win Max 2021 has been superseded by my Steam Deck for gaming tasks, I've currently got a machine free to try it out on. This hardware has a few tiny issues that can easily be worked with on Linux (you need to change the display rotation manually when you set it up, and there's no sound out-of-the-box until making a one-line config-file change), and has a recent fix in Mesa to address the Intel Iris Xe graphics not bringing the display back up after wake-from-sleep, but I have no idea about how any other OS would behave with the thing.
