Our own anti-cheat list

Hi all, today I'm doing just a little announcement that we've begun to host our own anti-cheat list for Linux and Steam Deck.

Keep in mind it's early days for it yet!

Yes I'm aware there's others but I think having our own dedicated list makes a lot of sense, so that we can directly integrate into many areas to help people. We already have a large database of games, developers and other info so it's making use of it even more.

Building it has been just a little side-project, but I will also be adding the status into the newer game embed I also announced recently that we have at the bottom of articles too. That way whenever someone reads an article about a game, the current status will be shown too!

Once a game is added to the list, it mostly ticks over by itself with little to no work, since a game status will very rarely change. So once done, it won't really add much extra for me to do, so overall I think it will be a real net positive for us as a community to have.

Features currently implemented (it's a heavy work in progress):
- Click table headers to sort.
- Can feature multiple anti cheats for each game.
- Instant searching in the text box.
- Can click an anti-cheat name to go to a dedicated list for that vendor.
- Clicking the game name goes to our little page about the game, with more info, and a list of articles we've written about it (if any and correctly tagged...).
- A box to show the latest updates and additions to the list.
- A dedicated page of the latest updates.
- User comments for each game.
- Latest games with anti-cheat comments noted at the bottom.
- Ability to show if single-player still works (like GTA V).
- Show if the game works with the anti-cheat on Proton / Native (or both).
- Our dedicated game pages ( example ) also show the anti-cheat status.
- Add the last couple anti-cheat tagged news articles somewhere on the page.

Already planned:
- Some way of noting a specific fix is needed for either Desktop or Steam Deck
- A page with the latest comments across all of them (like we have for articles too).
- A specific icon / status if the game is supported by the developer.
- Some sort of statistics to show you at a glance the percentages of what works / doesn't work.
- A button to report a change in status.
- Game submissions.
- Status icons to be links to filters to those status

What I want from you for now:
- What website features do you consider essential for it to be useful? (that it doesn't already have).

What I don't want yet:
- Suggestions for games to add, I'll be gradually building it up myself while adding features until I'm ready for that from you peeps. I won't be announcing it anywhere else but here until that stage either. Please don't suggest games in the replies, I'll delete any that do.

Some things that popped up:

There are games that have native support. The list is not clear whether the thumbs up applies to native only or both native and proton.

Unless you want to do everything yourself, a form to add an entry so you only have to approve it might be good. This could be combined with reporting changes.

There may be occasions where something needs more clarification (could be the native vs. proton thing), so a comment field could be helpful. You could display it as an icon when hovering over it shows the comment.

Thing kind of thing is only useful if it's kept up to date. There's no way to see how old the information is. Something that could help here is to have a checkmark/cross option for user to mark if this matches their experience. This could provide a last verified date. Curating this will be a bit tricky though.

I spose that will be useful to have, since that applies to a few Valve games, not sure of any others.

Yeah, some form of suggestions system will be added.

Yeah, I'll probably just have a row below each game appear if there are any comments we add.

One thing I could do is a comments system for each game. Wouldn't be particularly difficult to do either.
How about special information for the games, e.g. online mode broken but campaign playable (GTA V) or supported by developer (if this is even provable) ?

Yeah that will be useful, will add it.

Actually, had a better idea for comments, I can hook it up to the forum system so we get most of the features already there.

If I were into multiplayer, I would also have liked a "officially supported" status, to indicated the games where the dev has committed to supporting multiplayer on linux (whether through proton or native), as opposed to silently allowing it.

Maybe a double thumbs up?

Yup, added to planned, will note if a game is definitely supported.

I have the comments/forum system done quite nicely for it, but running out of time today to finish it. But having that will be a nice boost for it I think! Since it hooks into all the features already available for the forum like subscriptions, post reporting, quoting others, post editing (along with edit date displayed in the post) and so on :)

Up to 40 games in the list now. Still working on that comments system, should be done by the end of the week on that hopefully to move onto other features noted.

A certain game review has been taking up all my free time, so updates on this delayed till later next week.

The list is up to 50 now (still not taking suggestions on games yet). I also did have some time yesterday to finish up some more bits that will roll out to it soon including: comments per-game using the forum and a list at the bottom of recently added / updated games status so people can see.
Liam Dawe Nov 21
Update now live including:

- Dedicated forum topic for each game, click the little forum icon. It will auto-make a topic if none exists currently. You can then subscribe to it too, just like you can with normal forum topics to follow replies.

- Last 10 updates listed at the bottom in its own table (I will expand this to include a "show more" later. Plus maybe some sort of RSS feed perhaps for people to follow.
Will this list only cover games on Steam?

Edit: Dumb question, I can see Fortnite is on there, so presumably any game with Anti-Cheat goes.

I miss direct links between a games database page, and the comment section for a game.

Possibly also having the latest comments, or at least the number of comments, on the database page too?

Just added! Will also add a "see more" link to show a full page of all the latest.

Comments total is already in, just no comments are on any yet :)

I've made the game name in the info box embed inside the forum post be a clickable link direct to our game page for it! That applies to articles now too, it's the same embed. Also fixed the extra gap before the store links in the forum comments post.
