BEWARE OF STEAM CHAT MALWARE!
EKRboi Dec 31, 2014
Some may have seen this already but I don't see it mentioned here so I just want to let my Linux friends know about it just in case. There is malware going around steam apparently that spreads via links in friend chats. It won't affect linux users as it is masquerading as a windows screen saver (.scr) file but some of us dual boot still so should be aware of it anyhow. So be aware of "WTF???" messages from friends followed by a link to a supposed jpeg.

Linux users casually trying to run malware and complaining when it doesn't work. Yeah, this is us. :D

That is funny. Did you get a chat message from a friend or just find the offending file elsewhere?

I wish I had an updated article like this. Maybe they work better now. ;)

Damn it virus creators, make something compatible with Wine at least! Use #virus4wine and push virus developers to add Wine support!

If it's what I think it is, try opening it in a text editor and looking at the last few lines.

Hehe someone should report it as a bug in wine. That would be funny.
